Default Cam advice

I was looking for some advice or opinions on a camshaft for my 2002 Camaro ss. It's is m6 has 1-7/8 lt, slp exhaust and lid. I was looking at btr stage 3 and tick performance sns torquemax stage 3. Car is a street car with possible occasional track time. Usually just driven on the weekend. Want something with a pretty choppy idle to. Plan on keeping stock heads at least for now. If there's any other recommendations feel free to say. Thank you

Both those cams are a little on the bigger side for your particular setup, but with a good tune they should drive pretty decent. Definitely will have the chop that you're looking for

Last I remember the SNS 3 cam was a little bigger, so its going to be a tad more roudy. Between these 2 cams I like the SNS 3. That's just my personal opinion

Regarding the SNS Stage 3, I would do 4.10's with this cam since on Tick's website bucking at 10 mph is mentioned and bucking at 1800 rpm is mentioned with 3.42's

Good gears like 4.10's or at least 3.73's makes six speed cars more fun in just about all circumstances...and easier to drive.

Our high lift asa cam would be an option thats easier to drive with 3.42s but plenty of chop also!
As well as mid range and top end power.

Check out this thread
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/1881622-first-start-ws6store-s-high-lift-asa-cam.html

Definitely a good budget cam at $515 for cam.and springs and reuse your stock pushrods!

I understand. Long ago in 2002 when doing HCI ( TEA heads, 224 /224 XE-R cam & LS6 intake) for my 99 TA the idea of another $600 to get gears and get them installed - sucked. Turned out the 4.10 gears were one of the best mods the TA ever got, made the car better in about every way. Some times it takes a while to get all the mods done. Took me 3 years to save up to do HCI in 2002.

Ive actually had a recent customer go from 4.10s to 3.73s. He missed being able to use 1st gear lol. Running a custom 227/234 cam and the 4.10s took all the fun in the mid range away. He said he love it now.
Just .02 from another customer

We have had excellent luck in combinations similar to yours with our VRX5 camshaft. This is a 236/238 .601/.605 113+2 and will offer the lope at idle that you're looking for while still retaining good driveability on stock gears with a solid tune. We also offer a cam/spring/pushrod combination with our Budget Cam Kit, as well as our Cam Kit Plus if you're looking to upgrade the timing chain, oil pump, and other recommended items while you're there. Check out the links below and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
