Default Help with hp/torque numbers!

Hello guys! Looking for some opinions or input on why my vehicle has been dynod with such low torque numbers, 360 to be exact. My car has been cammed and headed. Cam is a vrx4 228/230 cam and heads are prc 2.5 heads. I feel as though my torque numbers are lower than what I expected,421hp/360torque. Now the only reason why I can see this happening is my having my stock throttle body, stock maf, slp lid and ls6 intake. Is my engine gasping for more air? Could something of went wrong with the install? Was my tuner terrible? What if anything else can be contributing to this problem?

Short answer is yes, your engine could be starving for air. Do you happen to know your map readings? Your map at full wot should be 97+ kpa unless you’re in Denver or something. That at least could help you confirm it.

Every 6 kpa is like being down 1-psi air pressure.

Other thought is compression. Cylinder pressure and torque curve go hand in hand. You don’t list your compression ratio

first thing, what type of dyno? correction factor? what level of smoothing? conditions? what was the afr during the run?

secondly, did you degree your cam?

At what RPM did it make peak hp? Because for it to make torque numbers that low the curve had to have been pretty flat for a long time to make that kind of horsepower - mathematically speaking.

Edit: Quick mental math says it was still making 360ft/lbs around 6200rpm to get 421hp.

If it makes you feel better my dyno was the same way.. Low on torque, but the cars power feels great and does pretty well at the track.. this was a loaded dyno and the numbers shown are corrected..

How does the tune look? If all looks good I'd say run it at the track. If it doesn't perform like it should then you will know for sure that there's a problem. Can't always trust the dyno
