Default Oil pump pickup o-ring

First off, sorry to bring up old stuff. I'm just about to button up my engine build and am somewhat confused as to which oil pump pickup o-ring to use. I'm using a pan and pick up from a GTO for my swap. After all the research I did, I'm still confused, however, I'm pretty sure I need to use the thinner of the two o rings. Being this close to finishing, I don't want to mess up here. Here's a pic of my pickup.

The black one. The green one is for pick-ups with a groove in it.

The kit I got had 2 black ones... one thicker than the other. I went with the thinner. Hope its right. It seemed to fit ok. Not to hard to get it in.

Rule of thumb is, groove on pickup tube, use fat one. No groove, skinny one. Sounds like you got it right.

Any reason behind why GM made 2 different oil pickup tubes with and without an indent? Seems it would have taken all the confusion out with 1 style tube and 1 o-ring.

One might have evolved from the other.

INSANITY, I suspect the engineers were snorting crack when they put a ORING in dirty nasty acidy engine oil. Seriously I don't snort crack and I wouldn't think of it. This oring and the unsealed windshield cowlings have destroyed more engines than you can imagine.

The original o-ring in mine was fine after almost 18 years.
