Default 4.8 Rods and Years...

Reading alot of posts which indicate LS Rods got "beefier" and had floating pins around '04 but I see it primarily for discussions related to 6.0's

Did this apply to the 4.8 and/or 5.3 rods too? If so was it around the same time as the 6.0's? I'm assuming since the 5.3 and 6.0 share the same rod that it could have been but the 4.8 is not the same rod.

I'm asking because I can get my hands on a 2005 drop out 4.8 pretty cheap with low miles (93K) and I'm boosting what ever I get my hands on so I'd like to know before I turn the go faster dial.

The 5.3L engines definitely got the Gen IV rods, and the 4.8L engines did too. I couldn't tell you which years exactly, you just have to crack it open and have a look.

05 is the year pretty much. Some 04s had em but not all. Basically it started with the lq9 in 04 but not the lq4 or 5.3 or 4.8 iirc. Then 05 the ls2 came out and it was YOU GET FLOATING PIN RODS AND YOU GET FLOATING PIN RODS AND EVERYONE GETS FLOATING PIN RODS. All 3.622 rods are the same save for LSA and LS9. The rest are all the same. The 4.8 rods got their upgrade around same time.
Iirc any reman gm engine you get now has gen4 rods and 04+ head bolt and cam bearings style.
