Default About this arp ultra torque

I used the arp ultra torque on my arp bolts on my head bolts. Ran into an issue where i had to walk away before they were all the way torqued. Some bolts are at 25 pounds, some are at 50. Obviously i need to tighten them to 75, but unsure of when i will get back to the garage to finish torquing. So basically, can i continue to torque them down with the arp lube on there or do i need to pull them all, wipe off the lube, and start over? Its been this way for about 5 days now and probably wont be able to get there for another week. So about 2 weeks. I know its not a threadlocker mire or a less a lube that helps with more accurate torquing

Think I would pull them one at a time and ensure adequate lube then re-install and tighten to 25 lb-ft. Once all have been removed, checked and and re-installed at 25 lb-ft, the head should be at 25 and you can continue the procedure from there. Obviously this is the main bolts, not the upper row of smaller 8mm bolts above the lifters.

Likely you can just run over them at 50 and continue but for peace of mind I would check per above.

While u guys are here, can u use too much of that stuff? Pretty much used most 2/3 of the small packet. I think most of the threads on each bolt are covered. Is it better to use too much or too little

I really doubt you could use too much. If you think you need more call ARP for another packet unless it's available locally. It's assembly lube. ARP might even suggest a substitute if it's easier to get.

Just make sure to follow ARP's instructions, which includes the threads and under the bolt head. I usually make sure the washer has some as well. Once they are all in, you will need to make sure you hands are clean before using the wrench so your hands don't slip

Luckily the one head is torqued so I'll pull the halfway done head bolts and redo. Thanks

I would just keep going, oil and grease stick around and less something takes it off.

If you pull the bolts pull the head and put a new gasket on it since it's already been kinda torqued down. The one bolt at a time thing may work but I personally would do another gasket for peace of mind.

One bolt at a time (loosening, not removal) is how a re-tighten is done after a couple of heat cycles. That's how I did my ARP studs.

im just gonna continue to torque it. when i get back out there. since this stuff isn't a thread locker that gets hard, its a lube that as mentioned stays moist.
