Default disadvantages of upgraded heads

I always see tons of talk in here about all the advantages that upgraded cylinder heads have, but what are some of the disadvantages of these upgraded heads? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Even better chance of breaking the stock rear. More street racing due to the confidence of the new power.

If you don't do your research and mismatch parts, or choose inferior parts (valve seals, springs) you could end up with a lot of cost and hassle.
If you only upgrade the heads you might gain too little performance to justify the cost. You always want a new cam matched to your heads.

just browse the internal engine section- most problems are seem to be due to poor installation, although there are occasionally heads that have a defect from the mfr.

agree, and add. need to match heads to your expected power output.
example choose a stage3 ls6 heads without thinking about the whole
package and expect less torque than your gf's honda below 6k.
go with what your supplier recommends. pick quality, not price and
you will be a happy camper

Well that's great to hear. I'm definitely going to go with the highest quality components and installation that I can afford. Probably towards the end of the summer. Does anyone know of a place within a 6-8 hour drive of Albuquerque, NM where I can go to get quality work done?

21st Century Musclecars in Dallas Texas, they are an authorized Lingenfelter dealer/installer. Can't get too much better than that. I want to send my SS there soon... BTW- greetings from a fellow Albuquerque F-body guy!
