Can we add 150hp for under $5000?
This would be for my sons stock LS1 in a dedicated track car for road racing.
Cam, cnc'd 243 heads, LS6 intake, 90mm tb, ud pulley. Car already has headers and we will install a straight through exhaust. We'd like to see around 375 rwhp with good reliability. Not opposed to good used stuff, but I've had good experiences, and not so good experiences doing that. Ideas?

Now Tony, I'm sure you just missed the road racing thing.
But you've probably got some good used parts in your closet that you'd donate to my son for a song as a thank you for his service as a sniper in Afghanistan. And we would gladly accept!

Ditto,my car made 398rwhp/385rwtq with just a set of 243 Z06 heads a good cam and headers. The heads are stock Z06 from an '04 Vette, just cleaned up and with Comp Cams double springs,LS7 lifters, Comp Cams hardened pushrods,a Katech C5-R timing chain. Car is an '01 SS so it had the LS6 intake already, cam is .617 lift ,headers are ARH 1.75" long tubes with an ORY and GMMG chambered exhaust. As you can see the car is mostly GM still as far as the engine goes,87K original miles so no rebuild just the cam/heads etc. upgrades. We did upgrade the clutch and flywheel for the extra power and put a tune on the engine of course.

Thanks to your son for his service. But pimping him is not cool. I can see giving our service members a discount tho. That is very nice.

I would carefully consider options for upgrading your oiling system, seems like allot of guys get their main bearings fried on extended high rpm applications. A new ls3 crate motor wouldn't be that far out of your budget.

Always a good idea while you're in there. Oe pumps are said to cavitate at high rpm. Melling has a pump that is supposed to alliviate that. Just the nature of a gerator type pump from what i understand. Maybe porting the oe pump helps with that also.
The extra oil also helps the hydraulic lifters out too.
