Default MLS head gasket question...

When replacing the factory graphite head gasket on a 2000 TA, is the new MLS head gasket the same thickness. Would the change in gasket require a change in pushrod length?

I don't know what the difference in head gasket thickness is, however I have used MLS gaskets on '98-'02 LS engines with all stock valvetrain components without any issues.

If your 853 heads have a notch on the deck of them then we are the only company that has affordable mls gaskets for them. Otherwise use the 12498544 and have no issues. Late 00 cars did get 241 heads also so make sure on casting #.
Make sure your heads do or do not have a notch first!

I swapped to ported 243 heads. I was just wondering about the gasket thickness.

To answer your original question.

The OEM graphite gasket was around .060 compressed
The OEM MLS is around .052

Not enough to make a difference for a stock application. The General used the same pushrods all the way through production.
