Default Cam difference

Hey all,

I am in the market for a new cam and contacted Cam Motion.
They suggested the Titan 4 227/232 113+4.

My current cam is the 228R 228/228 112+2.

Will I notice any difference between these two cams with the same overlap?

My cam seems very mild now, although it could be that I am just used to it.

Not even worth the change IMO. I bet you won't even know the difference

Thats what I thought. Reason for change is a failed lifter that took out a lobe.

I am not necessarily looking for more power, but maybe more of an aggressive idle.
Its currently pretty mild with 2.5" TD and Magnaflows.

Gotcha. Yeah even the idle difference wouldn't be noticeable

Going to go with a custom grind from Cam Motion. 230/238 .621/.604 for a bit more overlap and exhaust note. Thanks for the input HCI.

Now you're talking lol. IMO that cam is a decent upgrade, and worthy of replacing the other one. What's the LSA?

That sounds like a solid choice for your setup

A more aggressive idle can be done in tuning. No need to go get a barely different cam in hopes of a more aggressive idle.

That doesn't mean you need a more aggressive cam just for the sound which will drive worse.

I need a new cam and wanted something different than I had. Why is this a problem for you?

Your alternate cam is basically the same thing as already stated. I was simply pointing out that wanting a more aggressive sound doesn't require a more aggressive cam profile. Make sense?

Fair enough. I see your point.

But are these really the same thing?
228/228 .600/.600 112
and
230/238 .621/.604? 113

I see in your signature thst you run E85. You don't see to many n/a setups running it. I'm curious, what made you go this route?

My compression was too high for 91. I regret it a bit now as the ethanol rating at the only station near me has been all over the place and I don't have a flex fuel sensor setup yet.

Your new cam will drive great with a good tune. Very similar to my cam and I love it.. I think it's a good happy medium for street/strip performance and sounds real nice.
