Default Bought ported 243 heads off eBay...

So, I I ended up buying these ported 243 heads off eBay. I took a gamble because there was little to no info other than they were low mile CNC ported heads. From what I can see is. They are definitely CNC ported with 2.02 valves and what looks like good springs. There stamped 5.7 02 on the underside of the heads. On each end of the heads it's stamped Tec 1071 and there an A engraved into port 3 and 6 of each head. I couldn't find any info on the letters and numbers stamped on the ends of the heads or the engraved A's Just seeing if these numbers and letters are factory or from the shop that ported the heads ?

That would be my guess... looks like the machinist engraved them...
But hey, if they have decent parts and don't leak, you win!

Those freeze plug retention pins “scream” NASCAR shop to me. Worked at a shop back in 2000 that did that. Could be Wagner program (swirl ramp in bowls)
And we’re later stamped by another shop that freshened them. That A is normal casting stuff also.
They do look pretty nice. Have them opened up, pressure checked, and check the springs Could end up being a really good deal but you HAVE TO make sure

I have never seen the pinned core plugs before! What is the thinking behind that?

On a street car your radiator cap is rated at 11-16lbs, In a race engine it might be 22-32lbs. Cheap insurance , Most likely so they didn't pop out if they had to run the engine hot, On a street car you'd pull over if it ran hot, In nascar or something similar you might have to run it hot until you get a chance to pit or if you're close to the end of the race you're going to try to finish if you can.

spec heads should all be 799s not 243s.

still doesn't mean someone involved in the program couldn't pick up a pair of 243s to be ran on the same program that the 799s are on

After looking at the packing slip. They were sold by contemporary corvette out of Bristol PA. I measured the intake ports opening here's a pic of what it measures. Not sure what factory specs are.

They're a corvette junkyard and they do other ls1 based cars too. I actually bought my ls1 and trans from there many years ago. They probably got the heads from one of the cars that came in. If you call them up, maybe you can ask for pictures of the car and track down who owned it previously or who built it.

They could be from any racing series so any head casting is possible. Now that I think about it all the Nascar stuff got a dot pattern so probably not theirs.

The code is to keep teams from doing any other port work or trying to duplicate the marking on different heads.
