Interested in the answer here.

I just finished doing a head and cam swap on my LS1. I tried google searching for the answer but couldnt really find it.

Every single one of my pistons had a tiny little hole machined into them. They were all at the 3 o clock position IIRC.

Is that a balancing hole, or something else?

Those holes are to indicate which way the pistons should be installed. The dots face to the front of the engine.

The dot is used help for correct installation of the piston, they are all suppose to face the front of the engine.
