I know I know....been slow going lol. Super tough to get time lately. After a dozen cans of brake cleaner the motor is completely torn down and cleaned. New cam bearings installed.
crank is installed with the bearings. Thrust endplay looked good at 4 thou, and main clearance was between 1.75 and 2 thou. Crank reluctor run-out was within spec, always nice. Next step is gapping the rings.

Hoping memorial day weekend I make some serious progress.....In the meantime, I would just like to state that taking apart stock motor mounts and melting out the old ones is a royal PITA. That is all. We'll that, and I just ordered a rear girdle cover, tubular LCA's, and a driveshaft safety loop.

Ws6store/rpm speed drop in replacement pistons, no balancing required. I believe he said they are private label Silvolite.

Thanks. Been working on other cars so this has been dragging out. I need to make time to just do it.

Short block is together. Going to get the right 1 piece valve seals from WS6 Store for dual springs and then assemble the heads after cleaning. Once the heads are on we have a tool that will let us prime the oiling system so I can make sure we see pressure before putting it in the car.

Mike at ws6 has the best customer service I have experienced. He stands behind what he sells. My go to parts website.

Long block together!! BTR platinums and Straub trunions are done and we were able to pressurize the oil system and get some oil going.

Nice build man, did you get the heads ported? The ports look raw in the photos.

Be getting numbers soon?

At one point I was going to send them out...but everything snowballed and I decided stock 243s are pretty good and i would put the money elsewhere in the build between prothane motor mounts, new clutch line, new slave, LCAs, girdle, Straub trunion upgrade, driveshaft loop, etc. Knowing me, we gapped the rings a little bigger for boost because boost rules and at that point I won't care about ported 243s lol.

Gotcha. Nothing wrong with stock 243's, especially if you're gonna boost it like you said.

This is technically the wife's build so her call....but I <3 boost so we'll see what happens. In the meantime I'm hoping for 400whp and just have fun with it and not worry about it.
