lifters necessary?
Would new lifters be necessary for a 228/228 112lsa cam? They are expensive as hell, and I'm seeing a LOT of poeple that don't upgrade them. Thanks for the help!

you mean 228/228 112. and unless you plan to pull thee heads you wont be able to swap lifters. most dont change them just for a cam but if you are gonna do heads then i would since you probably have a high mileage car.

I just got a set of 5.3's from AS. I asked Jay if I should change the lifters since I had 72,000 miles. His comment "absolutely not necessary". I really did want to change them but I guess now I won't.

That said you will change all bearings, re-hone, rod bolts and resize, new slug rings etc... Anything else is a shortcut and you'll end up doing it twice.
$199.99 for a set of Comp cam replacement lifters is not expensive as hell, and if you look hard enough, i'm sure you can get some a lot cheaper.

"Expensive as hell" is a relative phrase; and to me, it IS expensive as hell for something that isn't necessary. I am spending a thousand dollars on a cam/accessories combination, getting the bottom end machined, and yes, getting new bearings. With that beind said, I am not made of ******* money. And since it isn't that expensive for YOU, maybe you can buy me some ******* lifters.

Yea if you have to take the heads off anyways screw it. And if your buying heads why not pay a extra 200$ and be safe.
