MTI C2 v. GM Hot Cam?
What cam would be better for my setup considering my setup listed in sig. The C2 is 224/224 @ 112 LSA with .581/.581 lift and the GM Hot Cam is 219/228 @ 112 LSA with .525/.525 lift. I don't understand what the lift is because those cams are quite different in lift. I plan on getting an LS6 intake manifold and a ported tb, but AFTER the cam. With either purchase I will getting new springs, pushrods and retainers. Any knowledgable cam experts want to give a novice some good cam advice?

gm hot cam will make less power but will not require periodic valvespring changes like the mti cam. it all depends on what you want. my advice would be to talk to texas speed or futral motorsports they will recommend you a cam that will be better than that gm hot cam.

525 is gay
but 581?
btw, another difference between 224/224 and 219/228
is that i think the latter cam will perform better on nitrous
since the exhaust duration is more
but then again, lift is almost stock, so maybe not.
but it almost certainly will sound cooler

I've got the C2 on 112. You'd have a very hard time coming close to passing emissions in cali with the Hot Cam. The C2 is a proven performer and with the proper tuning on a 114 sep shouldn't be that much of a problem in testing. But if your worried the Thunder 224 has worked for years with no problems.
