Nitrous cam
At what point does a nitrous specific cam become worth while? I am getting ready to put a set of tfs220's on my sbe ls1 that I am currently spraying a 150 shot on. After the heads go one I am going to get the car tuned on a 250 shot. Currently have a btr stage 4 which is 235/242 .621 .592 on a 111+3. Is there anything to be gained by swapping to a more nitrous specific cam with the 250 jets?
You may pick up more than you're spraying. For example, BTR has a 244/256 cam that picks up 400 on a 300 shot on the 400cid motors.
That cam you have should still be ok with a 250 shot. Once you go over the 250 shot I'd start trying to optimize the cam and heads (nitrous exhaust port for example).

On a 250 shot I think you're getting into that grey area where a n/a cam will work just fine, but where a nitrous specific grind would probably help some. If it's not a track car that will see lots of nitrous I'd just stick with a n/a cam
Thanks for the response guys. It actually only picked up like 128hp or so with the 150 shot. The car gets driven on the street a good bit, but I'm not worried about NA performance. Performance on the track is the primary goal
Depends on you goals. I'd see how the current shot with the new heads does first (one change at a time). I think the Stage 3 and 4 are good to about a 200 shot. A nitrous cam would be best but probably loose some low end N/A.
If I did my own tuning I would definitely see how it did with the same cam. But if it is worth while to get a custom cam cut for my set up now, I would rather only pay for one tune. I searched and couldn't find any threads with anyone spraying over 200 on a similar cam. Anyone have any experience?
