It's still heavy but 280 lbs less than the blue car was. Will get lighter from here, but its set up madman and will he going to the track in February when I get off the boat again. Madman will go with me and dial it in at the track.
We also played in holley and made a timing by gear table. Should help hit the converter harder then ramp the timing out by 3rd to where it made peak power on dyno
This car went to track a few times but I stopped updating here. Went 10.18 l at 135 mph leaving in 2nd because first was to violent for conditions.
Oil pressure started dropping so i cut a filter open and it has bearing material in it. Down until I can pull it and go through it.
I got a 4500 cid intake with the 4.5csa to test on it. Will refresh then dyno with cid, sniper and my old ironmask msd short runner intakes .
Cid will be tested with both an elbow to 102mm and also a 4500 accufab.
I'm sure the 4500 will make the most but once back in car it will also get tested at the track to see if ram air in dront of 102 makes up for the elbow vs the 4500 accufab.
. That's it for now
Took a while to get this back together. Made some changes to the motor and its going in my dad's 65 malibu I bought back after he had passed away.
Motor is now a 434 since I was lowering compression from 13.15 down to 11.64 for street.
Now has a callies 8cw crank and compstar rods.mahle 18cc dish pistons with 1mm.1mm.2mm ring pack but with my mast heads with lme ports and 55.5cc combustion chamber it's 11.64 now.
2.25/1.62 exh 280cc ls7 heads
I went to a Cid 4.5 csa single plane I had to deck the intake way down to port match. I think .165 off each flange flange properly.
Got a new cam to lower lift some since it's more of a street car bobby at nk performance came up with a 247/264 @.050 llsr .694/.683 110+3 with my crower 1.8 rocker arms.
Using a holley swap oil pan to fit in an A body chassis with 6qt capacity, 2" fbody Texas speed headers for dyno with the plan to swap to headers i bought from another member here that should make more. 2" into 2.5" into 3.5" tri y headers built for this chassis by Calvin Elston. Dyno broke a starter before we could swap them on or even test the vacuum pump.
We were using holley Hp for dyno tuning. Had a lot of issues on mid pull for several days. 93 octane only wanted 22 degrees of timing and was in the 715/550tq range. Also note these first pulls were using a holley billet elbow with 102mm throttle body.
after swapping holley off and trying his fast.fuel injection only to have to go back to holley as fast would only fire 4outer cylinders we put holley back on and switched to batchfire and seemed to.clear up. So again made a pull clean to 6900 then engine just lost ignition we swapped in an ac Delco crank sensor and had no more issues there. So went up to 7700 rpm but found hp to stay in the 715hp range.
added boostane to a mix putting it at 99octane. Started adding 1 degree at a time and was getting roughly 10hp/tq more each deg added.
at 27deg timing we got to 753hp/582 tq. Added a bellmouth on throttle body and got 762/588.
Swapped fuel to e70 out of the pump with no changes to tune other than fuel commanded air fuel from 12.7 to 12.5 on same gas scale. Really never got a chance to see if leaning air fuels out would make more power. Left them same.
e70 got roughly 10hp but I forgot exactly.
We did add 3 degrees of timing and made 776/598.
Swapped elbow and 102 out for a 4500 accufab 2200cfm tb and immediately went to 788/607. We put a 1.5" open spacer and did nothing. Put a 14x5" k&n filter which this is how it will be in car. I have a 5" sunoco hood so i want filter way up in the cowl for cooler air. Didn't help or hurt power. Stayed at 788/607.
. Hooked up his electric vacuum pump he uses for dyno. Starter jammed. It was 9pm so we shut it down. I had to get back on a boat for 28days and they are at a race so the engine will be taken off dyno and set aside while they fix the starter.
Possibly when I get off the boat I'll be able to test the vacuum pump, tri y headers as well to see how it does as that's the way it will be in the car. And then test a sniper intake that was on motor in red trans am that Ran 10.15@136 leaving in 2nd gear to see what cid intake is worth vs sniper.
I'm totally happy with results but so close to 800 I'd sure love to find it. Even if I need to pour in some c85😁
Avg power is 748/587 which will be plenty power for a nice hot rod with a performabuilt invincible level 3 transmission fully automatic and transbrake .
Hopefully I get to test again before I take engine home but if not I'm good with results already.
Malibu was a gorgeous car as it was. But needed some repairs before they got to far gone. Rear quarter panels were rusting. Then we found trunk floor issues and old damage on fenders and doors that were full of bondo prior to dad getting it 20 years ago. First is what it looked like when I bought it back then some body work pictures. Hope to have it back in a month or 2. Been at body shop 8 months now.
