5.3 leak

5.3 leak so I have a 5.3 in a buddies truck that started spitting oil out of the spark plug. Not a little leak. I mean it was shooting out everywhere. The plug was tight in there so I was kind of amazed. What could cause that?

The spark plug is not near any oil. UNLESS the valve cover is leaking oil down to the plug, and it has "lubed " the plug loose, causing compressed gases to leak and spit oil from around it.

I hear you both. But it’s really shooting out about two to three feet my first thought was a valve seal but that just doesn’t seem likely to me. Should I just pull the head and take a look? I’ve never seen anything like it before.
Only thing I can think of, if it is truly coming out of the area around the spark plug is, somehow the cylinder is filling with oil, and then somehow pushing it out the spark plug/hole.

if there was that much oil in the cylinder it would hydro lock and bend a rod, pushrod, or something.
I agree with the first comment, its probably leaking valve cover gaskets and a loose spark plug.
