Default LQ4 build questions

I'm building a new LQ4 for my rock bouncer. I want to run E85 or E98 and be around 14.1 compression.

The short block is
K1 4.00 crank
Molnar power adder rods
Carillo 4.045 10cc dome pistons.

For heads I bought a set of FED LS3 stage 1.5. I got the heads slightly used and was told they are .10 milled. Im still needing a cam and wondering if I should take another .20 off the heads. I'm new to putting together the LS motors but wanting to get the best bang for the buck. Or would I be better off selling the heads and buying another brand?

LS3 heads are a good bang for the buck head and FED seems to be a reputable company. Just do the normal checks, making sure PTV is adequate and the compression is where you want it. Same basic principles as any other V8.

Right now with .010 off the heads and a .051 stock gasket you'll be around 13.7-13.9 ish depending on how high the pistons come out of the block. Using .007 in the compression calculator it comes out to 13.8

Personally I would stop there and have the extra .020 for PTV clearance

I think your heads will work great, typically you'd want a cathedral head for more low end (big port LS3 heads tend to drop off low end a bit) but with a 411 cube stroker motor and high compression I think it'll be a monster.
