Default Looking for ls1 mod ideas

I have an ls1 off my 99 transam guessing stock heads for the year. It has ls6 intake, mac mid length headders, torquer v2 cam. Gmmg exhaust, shitty tune.slp lid. Now the car was just getting oil pan gasket done and the guy took out engine and gave me the short block. Has some rocker damage and could use some freshening up. Ive been out of the game for awhile so I don't know what would be good to do while its out. Like ls2 ls3 heads etc. Looking for advice for you guys. The car used to make 380rwhp lookong for more

How much more power are you after? And be realistic. Keeping the Torquer V2 cam? I think a nice set of ported 243/799 heads would help it unless you want to go aftermarket like Trick Flow or AFR. You already have a good intake unless you have your eyes on a FAST, but I'm not sure you need it.

With that cam a set of ported 243's would do well, or even just port the stock heads

Cheapest would be to get a good aftermarket piston with Gen 4 Rods and increase compression for that Nitrous setup you'll be installing. A nice set of 243 heads as well.

Get rid of those mid length headers and get a good set of 1 7/8th long tubes. I agree with the above comments, heads would probably be the way to go.

OK so I wanna do the 243 heads wondering if there are only certain years I can use on the ls1. Anything like 6.0 ls2? And im hearing about 799 heads.

243 and 799 are basically the same head, and all are the same, no matter the year. LS6 engines came with different valves but the heads are the same.

Yeah, you will NOT be shorting yourself with 799's. They are functionally identical to 243's. I think they use a different casting method on the 799's, which explains slight differences in appearance. Use 'em! They're GOOD! lol

LS7 lifters and LS2 chain will serve you well.

Well, what would you change as far as characteristics of the V2?

Ls2 chains tend to stretch after 10k miles. Ls7 lifters are ok.... but morels 5315s ate better for only 40 bucks more.
