Junkyard 5.3 lifters

Just started taking apart the engine and found some small chips on the sides. Was wondering if anyone has seen this before or knows what would cause it, everything else looks fine so far have yet to look at the bearings.

don't look at the cam bearings, its bad luck

never seen LS cam bearings that I didnt want to replace...... So like he said....

Yes it was supposed to be a 120k motor I cut the oil filter and pulled filter out and did not see any metal into it . I will pull the camshaft next and look at those cam bearings. Thoughts on checking main/rod bearings.

Yep. As long as you're in that deep it's cheap enough to switch 'em out.

Has anyone ever seen similar damage before? My guess is a malfunction of the rollers not rolling putting the lifters in a bind with cam lobes . Heard common problem for this year and can be remedied with new camshaft/lifters.

We shall see if this is true or false.
