Daily driver.....Centri Blower hands down in my book. And it is by far more dependable and reliable than the other options. Hell, you even get the same or maybe even better gas mileage since it will be tuned until you put your foot in it. Call around to the good shops in your area and talk to them. I currently have a Procharger car and a Turbo Lsx hot rod. Procharger is what I jump in when it's time to go somewhere.
Dont forget that a lot of the new cars are 4 cylinder boosted engines,, turbos are the most common because they don't need any real maintenance but blowers need occasional oil changes that dealers rape their customers on.. (I've seen 2 to 3 hundred for a oil swap that takes 1 pint of fluid and takes ten minutes tops.. )
Are there any other brands out there worth looking into besides Procharger for the LS1 or is that brand simply the most reliable one to go with as far as superchargers go?
Procharger is the main brand used for centrifugal blowers. There is a kit by Hawks Third Gen that will allow installation of a Magnacharger roots style blower which would also be very cool. Much more instantaneous power and torque.
Bruce the owner of Hawk's Motorsports is a big Magnacharger fan for street cars. Several of his personal hotrods have Magnachargers.
Magnacharger is impressive for 500 to 700 wheel horsepower builds. If my 91 RS's didn't have 11.3 to 1 compression, I would definitely have a Hawk's Motorsports Magnacharger on the car.
One note for any forced induction set up make sure the cooling system is in excellent condition. Ideally, upgraded. The stock cooling system is excellent overall but the newest 4th is sixteen years old.
The Procharger seems more appealing to me. Are there any upgrades to my stock vehicle that I should make before or while the supercharger is getting installed?
Most people make sure they have a solid clutch or torque converter. You'll also want fuel injectors (most go with 60lb Siemens Deka injectors) and a Walbro 340/450 fuel pump and a hot wire kit. That's probably the bare minimum other than things like fans and gauges.
So, I spoke to someone about getting the procharger as well as everything else I may need to ensure the car functions properly as a daily driver; and they told me you typically don’t install the torque converter unless you are rebuilding the transmission. However, for what I plan to do with my stock build, a torque converter would not be necessary. Is this true or is getting the torque converter inevitable for the vehicle to last?
Getting a torque converter has nothing to do with rebuilding the transmission. If you go procharger you will have much more power than stock so getting a quality torque converter that can take the power is always a good idea. Plus if you haven't been in a stalled LS fbody it's a blast. When you get a tune make sure they leave torque management enabled and as said previously, run a transmission cooler.
I agree with JoeNova. --> "First mods should always be the ones you won't be removing later on down the road."
If you don't like breaking down, replace the transmission first. The 4L60e would be lucky to survive the dyno. The 4L80e is a better option. It will slow you down on a stock motor, but it will survive the blower (later on). You can certainly use factory manifolds with a blower. You just won't get as much hp.

Plenty if people have kept the 4l60e alive, if you know what you're doing.
I just installed a new Delphi fuel pump about 2 months ago. Will that be able to withstand the large increase in hp or is it best I just get a Walbro and have it installed?
