Question Cam swap parts list?

I'm planning a cam swap on my LS1 soon. Besides the cam, what parts will I need? I heard about an LS2 timing chain upgrade. Is that just the chain, or does the gear need to be swapped too? I would like to upgrade the trunions too. Are there any brands I should avoid? Are there any kits that include everything I need?

You should get new stronger pushrods, it's best to measure for them once the cam is in and then order them. If doing that you need a pushrod length checker, and a caliper to measure them. Consider 11/32" vs the standard 5/16" options.
In general you always want to change chains and sprockets together, so get both. Possibly add a timing chain damper for extra piece of mind. If you're tearing in that far you may or may not want to thrown in a new oil pump, I'd you do be careful with the pickup tube. It would also be a perfect time to put on an underdrive pulley. Also a good idea to get a new cam retainer plate to avoid leaks.
For trunions, bushings are all the rage recently with many wanting to avoid the comp brand bearings. There are plenty of vendors with cam kits. A lot of this stuff could be overkill depending on what your plans are but my thought is do it once and do it right. Plus if you are paying for a tune you might as well save up to do it all at once and only pay for 1 tune.

Go with bushing style trunnion. First picture is junk comp trunnion with needle bearings after 1,000 mi.
Second picture is my bushing kit.

I don’t even think you can buy a timing chain separately from the gears...

TSP has a trunion kit and an LS2 timing chain/gear set. Are those good kits? I have seen some negative posts about the Comp kits, but those were older. Who makes the bushing kit in the photo above? Is that the CHE brand?

Has anyone dealt with Michigan Motorsports? It looks like they have a trunion upgrade kit as well.

I was actually considering replacing the oil pump along with everything else. I hear Melling makes a good pump. Should I get a high pressure oil pump, or just a stock replacement?

The kit above is through Summit.
I did not replace my gear, just a Ls2 chain

We have every part top to bottom start to finish for your fbody.
The list looks like
Cam
Springs
Pushrods
Front cover gasket
Front cover seal
Crank bolt
Valve cover gaskets
Valve stem seals
Water pump gaskets
Crank bolt
Oil pump
Timing set
Cam thrust plate

Maybe intake manifold gaskets as well

That covers every part you would need and we can gather that all together for a complete kit ready to go.

Let me know if you are interested. also we have the bronze trunion upgrades from straub and che also.

I am interested in getting a complete kit. I think it will be easier than shopping all over the place. Can you send me a list with prices of everything above, minus the things I don't need listed below? I do want the manifold gaskets and trunion upgrade. I don't want the Comp trunion kit. I'd prefer the LS2 timing set.

I don't need:
-the springs, because I already have some
-I'm still undecided on the cam, so I will buy that separately
-I will let the mechanic order the push rods after they measure them

If you're going to do the oil pump, I highly recommend lowering the K-member so that you can do it properly and pull the oil pan. At that point, if you still have the original motor mounts, swap those out as it will be a piece of cake to do with the k-member down.

You can't just "decide on what cam you're getting later." Depending on the cam, you could simply reuse all of your stuff - or you could end up having to spending a few grand or risk wiping out your entire valvetrain. The cam actually needs to be the first thing you decide on because everything else follows that.

Buying just any springs and trying to match to a cam can be an issue also. There have been about 23 threads on that lately. Even name brand springs have their limits/dos and donts.

We sell all the major brand cams at the same prices plus we have a few of our own that are pretty good as well.

Timing set $85
Oil pump $125
Deluxe cam install kit with all gaskets bolts and thrust plate with bolts $75
Trunion upgrade $175 straub $199 CHE
If running beehives valve seals are $25
Most duals come with them but we can get a few different styles there.

I would REALLY recommend lifters if you havent already budgeted them, they will likely be the weak link in the system.
Lifters $90
Head gaskets $38
Head bolts $45
Exhaust manifold gaskets $24

I have the BTR valve springs that are good to .660 lift. All the cams I'm looking at are about .600 lift. The springs might be a tad overkill, but they should work.

My mechanic has head gaskets and head bolts in stock. I had headers installed in February, so I'm not sure if those gaskets need to be replaced or not. I can't remember what type they put on there. They came with the 1-7/8" headers from Kooks.

I do want new lifters.
