Default Weak cam only Ls1

I just installed a TSP 228r cam in my 2000 Z28. I've seen the dyno results on here from 380whp to over 400whp. I had my car dyno tuned today and the best it could muster was 361whp and 353wtq. Has anyone run across this cam only making power in the 360's or was I expecting too much out of it? The car has an intake lid, LT's and full exhaust.

Headers, high flow cats, H-pipe, bullet mufflers dumped before axle. All 3 inch.

What intake manifold is on the car?

An LS1 intake will definitely hurt your results.

Could be just a stingy dyno too. Tell us more about the tune. Like timing and AFR

Those numbers are about where I'd say they should be. Most Cam only LS1s dont make 400whp (if we talk about "street cams" like you have) too many people on here claim bogus numbers that experienced professionals laugh at. Don't worry, you car is fine. With some stock 243 heads and ls6 intake you should be ~390whp. Aftermarket or ported heads and fast 92 should net you ~430hp.

Now let's wait for the trolls to call me out and claim their bolt on ls1s make 450whp. Lol.

That chart looks fine basically. How much timing? I'd seriously go run it at the track and see what it does. Trap speed won't lie

Not sure about the timing, what I posted is what the dyno sheet says.

So, I'm thinking I was expecting too much? I'll have to look around for an LS6 intake if that's the next choking point, heads are out of the question at this time.

LS6 intake might give you another 10 hp or so

Ya man I would save up and get some ported 243s and an ls6 intake. If you want more power after that buy a block build it on the side.

Shouldn't that cam peak higher than 5800ish?
What valve springs are you using?

Four years ago, I made 370 on a 227/235 cam with BBK intake, T56, long tubes, and a shitty Y pipe. That was on a 4000-lb roller dynojet. your intake is hurting. Power does look like it's peaking a bit early, which could possibly indicate the cam is advanced a bit, but peak torque is right at 5K, so not highly likely. AFR looks pretty good. Likely that run indicates best timing. You're on the low end, but not "something is mechanically wrong" low. Swapping in a set of 243 heads (ported if possible) will help a lot.

im running a BTR stage 3, 231/242 & 617/592 with stock LS6 intake and 241s and 1 7/8" headers.. made 415 on a mustang dyno, peaked at 6k rpm. Sounds a little high for cam only but i figured a realistic number would be around 400.

Springs are PAC 1219s, pushrods are Texas Speed 7.400 and the cam is 110lsa.

The engine is only going to make the HP/TQ that your heads/intake/tbody will allow period.... You can put the biggest cam, best headers/mufflers etc: and it wont matter, you need to fix the bottle neck in the system, get ported 243s, fast 92/92 tbody , Dorman LS6 or Chevy LS6 intake and take the airflow restriction away and you will see 390+ HP...
