Post #24 said air came out of the exhaust ports and the plugs are out?? 2 machine shops?? and you checked bearing clearances? what were the clearances?
and why are you on the internet instead of figuring out what this issue is?? Are you using a click type torque wrench to come up with
it takes more than 100#'s to turn this engine over?? I think you got other issues...

If it sat for 2 weeks with the plugs out or the heads off you may have just built up a bit of surface rust in the bores. If that's the case then running the engine will clear everything up and smooth it out. Not sure if that's the problem or not, but it's something that instantly came to mind when I read sitting for 2 weeks.

I’m not asking if PTV is good. You’ve already established that it’s good. I’m asking you how it turned when you spun the engine over to check PTV. If it was hard to turn at that point, you should have stopped there. If not, then something you did after that process affected the issue your experiencing.

Seems sitting for 2 weeks with no work being done may have been the issue. When I started the motor over with the starter I let it run a few seconds then stopped and did that till oil came up to the heads. Now when I turn the crank with the torque bar it takes about 70 or so ftlbs to turn it. So I'm assuming every thing had to be lubed up. I changed the oil and nothing that I could see was in it and I cut the oil fliter apart and didn't see anything either. We shoved a scope through the spark plug oils and didn't see any rust or scoring. We also shoved it in the oil pan drain Oil and couldn't see much but what we could see every thing seemed ok. I'm assuming just having it sit that long with nothing but assembly lube it may have gotten stiff. I know assembly lube should have helped but it does get really hot out in the garage then cold at night so maybe it just broke down. So I figured id let everyone know that so far so good.
