Default Looking for formula for piston ring gap

Looking to see is anyone knows the formula for setting up piston ring gaps. I am currently doing my 2002 6.0L turbo build and have heard I need a specific gap set on my first and second ring. Any help would be appreciated.

What did the piston manufacturer suggest?

This would be a starting point...

Wiseco - piston ring gap and file fitting

For a street car, go .0050” x the bore size for top ring. .0055” x the bore size for the second ring. This is per Wiseco”s recommendations. If this is a full on race deal, add .0015” to the multiplier.

I usually go .0075" x bore for top right, .0070" x bore for 2nd ring for a turbo build. Some will flip those values for top/2nd.

What piston? It really depends on the heat the rings will be subjected to.

Diamond pistons. I called them today and they provided for to to go to total seals website and they have a PDF chart. Which I supplied below.

They suggested, .022 for top and bottom ring with a bore measurement 4.010
