Dart SHP LS Next Block Questions
My current setup is a 2005 GTO with a max effort ported LSA overdriven to 17 psi (9.55/2.55), MAST 255 heads, BTR PD Stage IV cam, flex fuel, unknown compression (will need to consult with Pat G on this one - he's tuning my car). There are a lot of other things done as well, but these are the main points for this conversation.
I've looked (quite a bit) and there doesn't seem to be much information out there about the Dart SHP LS Next Blocks. So here are a few questions I had:
1.) What machine work must be done to the block? I'll need to know what to tell my machine shop when I hand them the block.
2.) What's the maximum recommended bore for a block that will see anywhere from 17-20 psi and at most 1200 rwhp? From my research, it seems to be 4.155 to 4.160.
3.) What additional parts are needed in order to run this block? So far from my research, it seems to be the following: Dart SHP head studs, Dart SHP main studs, Dart SHP windage tray.
4.) What size head studs should I run? The SHP blocks come with 7/16", should I step up to the 1/2"?
5.) Bottom end consists of Eagle 4340 crank and SCAT H-Beam rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts. The rods, crank, and block are all rated for 1500 hp. What pistons should I get for my setup?
6.) Do I need to have my machine shop pin the mains?
Thanks in advance!
