Head / cam swap So i started my swap which is taking a little longer than id like but this is turning into more of a job than i thought, any guys here try this while the motor was still in the car or am i the only dumb dumb whose not dropping the craddle out

It can be a toss sometimes as to which method can be quicker, though the majority of head /cam swaps are traditionally done in place even in tighter engine compartments. I've seen entire refreshening rebuilds done with block in place by those without an engine puller.
Unless you do it often enough,, a modern head /cam swap is going to take the average person a little more time than it could. Just grit your teeth & get through it.

If you've never done a heads and cam swap before I highly recommend you have some help from someone who has. Being your first time this is not something you want to screw up. Just my opinion

Not my first head cam swap ever but my first one on an fbody ive always done my own work on my fox body mustang (88 gt ttop car) and man life is alot easier doing motor work to the fox body can do a head cam swap in a matter of 2 1/2 hours taking time and enjoying a cold beer, thanks for the advice fellas i cant wait to get her all buttoned up and running 💪

I tried doing mine that way but ended up pulling it out of the top after somehow forgetting a lifter in it's bore and it dropping when I tried using a magnet to grab it. That was probably the most horrible sound I've heard in my life.
