Help with lq9 with ls3 upper build
Looking for help on my first LS build. Here is what I have so far
2004 lq9 (x24), machine shop work done.
-factory crank and pistons
-Ls3 heads with upgraded springs
-complete enginetech gasket set
-Ls3 factory intake assembly and injectors
-ls3 rockers and ls7 lifters
-arp head bolts
-comp hot cam
Questions are this:
-Do I use original timing cover?
-what timing chain?
-what oil pump?
is there anything else I need for my build ?

Is the crank 24T or 58T?

Then you can use your timing cover as long as you use the rear-located cam sensor. Same for timing chain and oil pump, though you might need new ones of those if there are a lot of miles on them

Depending on what the engine is going in you may need adapters for the injectors. Also if you’re using car FEAD brackets it would be a good idea to drill and tap the missing bolt hole on the upper driver side of the iron block while the engine is out of the car. Otherwise sounds like a solid build!

Ok cool, not sure what you’re doing for a harness but I do know PSI offers a 24x swap harness ready for LS3 style injector connectors so that makes it easy. Even then, injector connector adapters are cheap and easy too. The LS2 timing chain is a popular option and many go with a ported LS6 oil pump, both of which would fit and function just fine.
Im not familiar with the details on the holley brackets though. If they need the car mounting bolt on the upper/driver side of the block just be aware this is not predrilled on the iron blocks. You can either drill and tap it or omit it if there enough other bolts on the bracket.
