Default LQ4 Upgrades for someone in the UK

Hi there,
I have recently bought a 2000 LQ4 complete with all ancillaries, wiring, ECM and hoses. Here in the UK that's quite a find as they are not that common over here. I plan to rebuild it and give it a few upgrades before transplanting it into an old Range Rover. I can find gasket and bearing sets on eBay easily enough because of there global shipping program but I am not sure what to do about upgrades. I was thinking of a cam change and maybe putting in some flat top pistons as these are ''relatively' small and can be shipped easily enough? Reading online most people say to change the iron heads but getting other heads here is rather difficult so it might be worth me getting these iron ones ported?
Any Advice would be appropriated.
Thanks
Sam

There is a facebook page in the UK for those interested in LS motors (chevy ls1 owners and parts) and I'm sure a wanted ad there will sort you out.

No probs, I've got an LQ4 in my 53 Chevy Bel Air. It was originally an iron head engine, but was rebuilt by turnkey engine supplies with 317 ally heads and they fitted a corvette cam in it when car was upgraded in the US. It also runs one of their standalone management systems - mefi-4. I would recommend using the stock kit if you have it, or something easily tuned in the uk. Although my car runs fine and has been dynoed in the US when installed, I can't do a thing with it in the UK - unless I buy a mega expensive programmer which I wouldn't have a clue how to use. Downside of the LQ4 is that it's greedy on fuel, unlike the LS1 in my Minor - 15mpg as opposed to 32, both cars with very similar gearing - 70mph @ 2000 revs.

We do international shipping very well and have everything you need. We have everything for a cam swap. And pistons too if you want to get into the bottom end. If you have an iron head motor, we’d rather get you into a proper set of aluminums that you can paint any color you wish. Send us a pm and we’ll put everything together for you in a package.

Being a 2000 6.0 first things first... Change those to any other LS head. The only iron LS head made. 243/799 would be best.
