Trickflow top end kits
Hey everyone. I'm finally in the clear to start my build. What I have is an iron gen 3 -5.3 block that will be torn down , machined to ls1 specs, and rebuilt by a good friend of mine.
My question is, has anyone tried those trickflow top end kits for ls1. They have a 480hp, 500hp, and 515hp kit I believe. Kit includes heads, cam, pushrods, roller rockers, bolts, gaskets, etc....
The motor will go in either a 86 camaro or 81 c10. Not sure yet... It will be a street vehicle, not much track time. I really want something I can keep up with or leave the new camaros, challengers, etc.... (not the top of the line models)

The cams seem pretty conservative. And I know this article is using carb intakes. One thing to note is that although they hit 500hp, they did this running no accessories, electric water pump, open headers, in a climate controlled room and dyno water cooloing the engine, meaning it probably doesnt get up to 150 degrees. Put that setup in a car and dyno rwhp and you're most likely gonna end up at around 400rwhp. Not very impressive.
The cam is mild though.

We generally see about 12% loss on a Corvette Drivetrain and closer to 13% on a stick F-body on a typical Dynojet. Trucks it can be hard to tell based on the wide variety of wheel and tire options that can add weight quickly. Trickflow spends a lot of time looking at area under the curve, so their packages run better than the peak number would suggest.

I purchased the Trickflow top end kit for my LS2 through Summit, I assume it would be similar to the LS1. Been very happy with them so far. They dyno told me 452hp at the wheels. I have about 5000 miles on the assembly so far. No issues, no drama really. The only issue I had was the Harlan rockers that were apart of the assembly had a slight touch condition on 3-4 of the rockers with the stock valve covers. After a little clearancing of the valve covers, all seems to be good now. I recommend the kit.
