Default Injector & cam size

Hello all.

I'm trying to figure out what size injectors and cam I need. I have looked at the cam faq section so I have a better idea but still need a little guidance

I will tell you all my combo first, then how I plan to use the vehicle which will be 86 Camaro

2001 5.3 to be bored to ls1 specs

Reuse /recondition stock rods & crank

Ls6 intake & throttle body

Fbody accessories and brackets

Hyper Flat top pistons

Long tubes

Tea stage 2 -243 heads( the 243 heads came off LS4)

Built 4L65e or 4l80e

I want my compression to be 10.1 - 10.5 range

Will use a stock posi unit or a posi 8.8 rear end from Hawks or Spohn

Im thinking a cam like 216/220 550-580 lift/ I dont know the lsa

Using pump gas-93 , I want something I can possibly daily drive and have a wide powerband with 6k rpm limit

I want low end more than top end power but I dont want it to max out in the middle If that makes sense.

At the least, something I can keep up with the ls3 camaros and the coyote ford engines..

If my expectations are not doable, please advise me. I really want to keep up with the newer camaros mustangs dodges... It doesn't necessarily need to be a daily driver, but at the very least, something I can drive 4 hours away to events and such

A4 or m6 ?

Your compression will be around 10.5 : 1

gtp 36 lb. Ev1 injections will be plenty for that setup and can be had for around $100.

You are going to need to spin it a bit higher than 6k.
Imo if your goal is to keep up with newer cars you're going to need a bit more cam.

Sorry a4. 4l65e or 4l80e

Would I need valve reliefs in the flat tops?

How much more cam you thinking

Im not the best person to spec a cam for ya but something like the torquer v2, 4000 stall and shift around 6700 rpms.

No you would not need to cut reliefs.

Stage 2 Summit. 226/238 .600 113 lsa will work VERY NICE and drives great!> even with the ls6 intake and im assuming y pipe still should made 400+ tire.

Edit, If you want a Ghost style cam that's very Mellow the SUM-8715 would be your best bet. Go check out my build thread . I ran the stage 1 and 2

Injector wise, 36 pounds to 42 pounds should work out nice with heads your using and a good cam.

Cam wise what Mavn said.

Why compression in the 10 to 1 to 10.5 to 1 range with 93 octane available? Forced induction later?

My 3rd Gen RS is LS swapped and runs 11.3 to 1 on 93 octane and can daily drive or do 1,300 mile trips etc. Same TEA LS6 2.5 heads. My 72 runs 10.85 to 1 with a carb & HEI, occasionally needs octane booster on a very hot dry summer day.

I stated 10.1 to 10.5 because I just was being safe from running octane booster's..

With a good tune your set up should be fine with 11 to 1 and more. As fast as the newer cars are, I wouldn't want to leave any free power on the table. My RS hasn't needed octane booster at 11.3 to 1.

i has almost that same cam but on a 113 lobe sep and I really didn’t like it. I like the new cam much better. But I’ve grown out of liking a bunch of noise and shaking at idle at a red light. And the gas smell at idle. Don’t care for that anymore. This new summit cam is super docile, lopes just a little. Drives like stock. And pulls to 7000. It made 450rwhp in mavns car. What more could you ask for? I was afraid I wasn’t going to like it or my car would slow down, but it feels like it picked up power. And I really like it.

Yeah after watching mavns build there is no denying that it works. And works good. I guess I like loping, and fumes, and such shenagenes... Less drivability. But absolutely good combo......
