What causes a lifter to collapse?
Possible things to colapse a lifter:
worn out lifter
too much preload
too short a spring/too much lift for the spring
huge lift and fast ramp rates
too heavy of a spring(seated pressures)
something getting into the oil(metal shavings/dirt)

Would a texas speed camshaft 228R cause the lifters to fail? It has 228/228 and .588"/.588" lift and 112lsa. Also what would be the best lifter to replace the stock lifters, but still use stock rocker arms?
Thanks

Man I replaced my stock lifters with a new set of stock lifters when I did my cam swap. I have about 12k on them now with no valve float. I am running the same cam.
