Default Ls1 engine build.

Im building a ls1 engine for a autocross guy. its a 99 corvette. The build will consist of a callies rotating assembly. shooting for 11.0 to 1 compression with a 65 cc 243 head. My question is about cam choice. The stock cam is wiped out so he needs a new one. he needs to keep the idle like stock but wants to make more power. Are there any proven cams for that combination that will idle like stock?

Look for the mildest truck cams from Cam Motion and TSP. You might have to raise the idle a touch to get it silky smooth.

Negative Overlap is your friend. I would talk with Cam Motion.
i would look at something like ~222*/228* 116*+4* .600"/.585"
-6,-4* Overlap max. Should be worth 20-25+ over stock Z06 Cam
Like G said raise Idle ~200 RPM.
Just my .02
good luck

Our Sum-8719 Pro LS Stage 1 Truck Cam would be a wicked sleeper and torque producer in this application. 209/217 112 + 1 .550/.550. Works with Ls6 springs or 918 singles. Let us know if you have further questions. We could also have a dedicated custom ground for you by Comp or Cam Motion perhaps If you wanted to play some games with the idle and powerband.
