When we were prototyping our billet Barbell we tried the O-ring on both ends. When we pushed it in, chunks of the O-ring got sliced off when passing by the oil ports. If you put your finger in there you can feel how sharp these ports are.
Those chunks of O-ring, if not removed, would go into the lifters and or bearings. They could plug the small holes on the lifters and then oil wouldnt make it up throught the pushrods to the rockers.
