So I just bought a 383 stroker and have the ls6 valley cover. Is the ls6 system with a closed catch can going to be adequate? I was looking at the mighty mouse pcv system, anyone have experience with that and is it worth the money?

It all depends on what you're doing with the car. A street car doesn't even need a catch can. Driving on the banked oval at Daytona needs a drysump setup with all kinds of fancy pcv and catchcans. The engine size and type isn't as important as the engines intended usage.

Street car with an occasional Hill climb event. Switching my setup from straight line car to a corner Carver.

I find even a basic crankcase ventilation oil catch can to be of good use for the LSx engine family...
The Y-block design and thus poor breathing in the small crankcase could simply use any help we can provide.
Especially for stock to stock with camshaft/ valvetrain upgrade engines.
I have seen so many stock engines daily driven in trucks with most of the oil in the top of the engine... and after 5,000 to 10,000 miles of driving that way without adding or changing oil... lovely lovely things start to occur.

"What do you mean, there is no oil in the oil pan?" "I just changed that oil 8,000 miles ago!" "What a piece of **** my GM vehicle is!" LMAO! I was so tired of hearing GM customers saying that crap while I was working in engineering.
I wanted to scream at those people! Why can't you just marvel at the technological advancements since the GEN1 SBC and check your oil level once a month!!! GRRRRR!!!

Why bother having all the engine oil accumulate in places that it need not be? ...Such as when the factory intake manifolds accumulate half a quart or more engine oil inside... The oil needs to be in the wet sump as much as it can be... Or go to a dry sump system with 15 quarts of oil and not worry about it till oil change time. LMAO! People manage to destroy those engine too by not servicing them and wanting a new free engine!

Even the most basic catch can that has to be drain out into a container would be better than nothing under the conditions stated.

Sorry guys... I had to RANT.

I have a catch can already and will run one on the new motor, I was just wondering if an improved design would help. I used to get a decent amount of oil out of the can every oil change so I will be running one.

If you run a catch can, you can't go wrong with Mighty Mouse. Give Dave a call if you're not sure which version to run for your application.

I ran his mild version on my C7 Stingray (DD, weekend bracket racer) and having the same installed on my C5 right now. (DD, weekend bracket racer)
