Default Gen III engine swapped into Gen IV truck

Hello,
I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 with a Gen IV 4.8, and I found a great deal on a Gen III 6.0 with wiring harness and computer. I know the differences between the Gen III and the Gen IV, so would I be able to swap the engine, wiring harness, and computer into my truck, or would I be better off changing the reluctor wheel, cam sensors, etc?
Thanks!

Make the engine fit the truck, not the other way around.

Could you, yes.Should you..thats your call. Either way is going to take some effort. i think it might be easier to change the reluctor and get adapters for the various sensors you need and run the gen 4 ecu in the truck and have it tuned vs a entire harness/ecu swap etc.

Or find a gen4 6.0 and drop that in without any headaches.

I think changing the harness and PCM is going to be the harder way to do it vs converting the Gen3 motor to Gen4 sensors, except you're going to have to drop the crank to change to a 58x reluctor. I think by '07 the factory PCM is too intertwined into the BCM, instrument panel, infotainment and other electronics to just swap it to an older PCM like a 411, but I will confess to not being an expert.

Have to agree holding out for a Gen4 motor would be more ideal. It's easier to do a gen4 into a gen3 body than vice versa as you are trying.

Sell the complete Gen 3 6.0 setup to reallocate funds for gen IV 6.0 long block. Re-use your current accessories, harness, and computer.
If you got a really good deal on the gen 3 setup, you might have some cash leftover or get a lower mileage gen IV.

^^^^^^^^^ This will minimize most headaches related to this swap. ^^^^^^^^^^
