You want the stage 1 or something even smaller for the stock torque converter to have a decent driving setup. Keep on reading

I've got the summit 8714 on my shelf waiting to replace the BTR stage III truck cam I've recently been high 11's with. I just wanted a little more now. I think the summit 8713 would also be great cheap fun with just ls6 springs for a strictly street cheap stock converter car. I say if you aren't planning on doing a real converter you really don't need that .600 lift anyway I Loved that 218/224 with the stock converter and 3.73's it was a shame to throw away so much available low end when I added a real, drag race type converter to the mix

218/224?? Thats another cam ive been looking at. Cam motions stage3. 218/224 on a 595, think the lsa was 114+3. That summit ghost cam is also on my radar as the btr stage1 but i started reading on the btr2 and just cant make up my mind.

Well here's the thing... Any cam you buy, even a 218/224 is going to want to shift higher than the stock shift points to get the most out of it. (I shift mine at 6800 for the best et's). Soo... if you get it tuned properly and have it shifting at 6400+ like it will want then the trans may fail after one to many good ones and then you will just be shopping for a new tourqe converter along with a good trans rebuild anyways. Just more for you to think about Op

Heres the thing, im not out to build a drag car. Hell there isint a drag strip for hours from me, which i will probably never go to. Maybe i need to research more into stalls but i just dont want to be in a situation where i dont want to drive the car. I dont care about et's or trap speeds at all. I just want the most streetable/driveable power. Its like saying 4.11 gears are the best, not for everyone. Maybe that 218/224 cam is the right one for me, since i want stock tc and like u mentioned, 3.73 gears.

Get a nice converter. If you don't like the way it drives change the rear gears.
Something like a yank ss3600 and 3.73's will drive very nice. You will gain more than cam only.
Then later down the road when you want even more your cam options and gains will be better due to having the gear and converter for it.
