Need some help and advice on cam swap quick! Thanks
If I wanted to go with a 02-03 LS6 cam and this setup in my LS1 do I need longer pushrods?
Will the cam, springs, rods work with stock retainers and not give any issues?
What kind of gains could I get with this cam only?
What would idle and driveability be like in comparision to stock?
Would LS6 heads work better than my LS1 heads?
Would the cam only work well with a 100 shot TNT N2O kit?
Thanks

)...if not (stock tune) then it won't drive very good
LS6 cam is a GM cam designed to get a car through emissions under all conditions and be able to go for 100K miles without a valve spring change...it’s not a performance cam. You would do better to get Comp 918 valve springs and a better cam.
7.38" .....it’s a little shorter than the 7.4" everyone runs but its the closest you can get (within the lifters ability to make up for).....

I personally would get those chromoly pushrods IF they are brand new (never been run). Brand new from Comp they are ~$110 so keep that in mind.
Since you want it to idle like stock (or close), look at something under the 220 range. If it were my car I would go with 215/220 115LSA (they call it their "old man" cam). It would idle really nice and that extra exhaust would work well with the spray (which can be upwards of a 150 shot on a stock LS1). You can either just buy Comp 918s (LS6 springs will not work) and keep your stock heads, or you can have someone port you a set of heads and they will come with 918s (or whatever spring you tell them to use).

To give you a comparison, the 02+ LS6 cam is a 204/218, .551"/.547", 116LSA. As you can see it has A LOT of exhaust duration and very little intake.
