Post LM7 cam?

Ok so i have this LM7 5.3l im looking to so a mild cam, but not have to change out the valve train. im going to also have a let of 862 heads going to this motor as well (the heads will be ported and polished also). im trying to go cheep and also make it as a street driver also. any ideas?

The stock LM7 cam uses very low lift springs. Whichever cam you get, if it has more than .500 lift (and any worthwhile cam does...) you will need to change the springs.
By the way, if you get a CNC port job, and they are the best way to go, it will be just that.
Polishing is old school, and is hardly done anymore.
The CNC tool does a pretty smooth job.

so your gonna pull the heads to have them ported but you dont wanna buy valve springs?

Can run the Brian tooley truck cams with a cheap LS6 spring, porting the heads isn’t gonna be cost effective at this power level so I’d skip that until you’re making much more power

The SUM-8718 Tow cam and SUM-8712 drop-in are both .500 lift. We also have the LS6 spring version of 8712 called the 8719. Finally, we just introduced a .600/.600 lift version of our stage 2 cam (.523/.524 lift p/n SUM-8701). The .600 version of Stage two is part number SUM-8720.
