Lifter preload?
I have read numerous different pre load suggestions so if somebody can please clarify what I should be aiming for that would be great.
I have the standard pushrods at the moment but I plan to use heavier duty ones once I calculated the lengths required. I also already have a Comp Cams pushrod length adjustable tool.
So what pre load should I be aiming for?
Thanks in advance.
I shoot for .075”ish with LS7 lifters, and it’s fairly quiet. I’ve seen guys set it at .100” and they drive it like a loaner.
But of course you should "ALWAYS" check for proper pushrod length............................................ ......................
You're exactly right, so many different opinions!
I don't know if the lifters in my engine would be the same as the LS7 ones or not. My engine is from a 2005.
I'll aim for your suggested 0.075" preload.
So you don't think it is worth upgrading the pushrods?
If not, I may get lucky with the standard pushrod lengths being the same as what I need. Of course I guess though if I do need new rods (different length) then it makes sense to use uprated ones?
