Default Lifter pre load

I'm building a 05 lq9 with asa cam and 12499225 lifter. When checking pre load do you start when rocker just touched pushrod? Or when pushrod stops spinning in your fingers? I measure when rocker just touched and get .080 and when pushrod stops spinning I get .050. Which way is correct?
Thanks

It should be able to spin but yet feel some resistance. Zero lash is found when all the slack is taken up in the rocker arm but not to the point that the pushrod no longer spins.

Thank you
And yes I have a pushrod length checker but had these pushrods on shelf and thought I'd try. Just little too paranoid about pre load
