Default Let’s guess what is broken - updated

Was getting the car tuned and everything was “going well”. Tuner was going around the block cleaning up the cruising AFR and this noise came in. He shut it down and rolled into driveway.

Can’t pull the valve covers till Later tonight after work

Sounds like a valve event... something top end. Maybe a broken spring or rocker arm.

Agreed. Sounds like it’s half the speed of the engine so hopefully it’s top end.

I’m hoping top end and something stupid. The noise is a hollow sound and rhythm is weird for sure. It had been making good pulls with no issues and then did this at 17% throttle 🤦🏻dum♂️

I should include that it’s a decent top end. Jesel rockers, pac 1208x springs, motel 5850 lifters. Hoping rocker is loose like someone mentioned

Another question for when I get home to check it out some. If the top end looks ok, I’m gunna disconnect the coils/ injectors and turn it over. How much oil pressure should I see when cranking the engine over?

With the spark plugs out I usually see 35-50 on used engines.

You and me both. Trashed three of them. Shaft was snapped and so was the top of the bolts so they are still in there.

Hoping the damage is limited to here though, and the cam is OK
