Default 5.3 truck cam

anyone have any experience with the cam motion stage 2 high lift truck cam? looking at that or something from btr- stage 1,2,or their new torque cam. going in a 98 1/2 ton regular cab 4x4. will see some towing in summer, tractor, car trailer a few times a month not a lot really. motor is a 5.3 with flat tops, 243 heads, tbss intake. i spoke with both companies already and both gave their recommendations, so now just seeing if anyone has any real world experience with these cams. thanks

We carry the Btr and Cam Motions if you need. Looking at your combination, the Sum-8718 tow cam is a contender, but the Sum-8719 Stage 1 .550 lift is another good option If you want to hear a bit more cam in it. Both would produce much more midrange, which keeps them from downshifting as often...which can improve fuel efficiency.

Look for a 212/218 112LSA .550". Lots of mfrs have cams around in there. Well and widely known to work well in a 5.3. Summit probably has one in that ballpark. BTR, TSP, ws6store, Vinci, etc. would be other likely sources.

I’ve got the summit 8718 in a 6.0 and I’m very impressed with it. Maintains some efficiency while really boosting low and mid range power. Still revs clean to 6000 as well.

Texas speed compared truck cams with equal specs duration and LSA wise but high lift vs low lift and the 600 lift picked up considerable power over the 550 lift cam throughout the entire rev range, considering that I would pick whichever you pick, on 600 ish lift. I see that you stated you were looking at the high lift cams, but others were mentioning 550 lift cams so figured I would throw that out there.

I have been in the trucking field from a long time, We are using 212/218 112LSA .550" we have plenty of trucks which we are using for rite way towing nyc, a towing service company in New York, We focus on performance and towing capability, so for this purpose we do some modification in truck cam which enhances the power.
