If your going to use a shorty header just see if you can find some stock manifolds that will fit.
The plug access with some of those shorty can be a PAIN and I have seen several burn plug wires. They also dont gain much power if any over stock cast manifolds.

So the engines coming together, shouldnt there be a gasket here? I cant find any in the set

No gasket. It’s a machined surface mated to the oil pumps machined surface. You could smear an ultra tiny dab of ultra grey around it, but it’s not needed.

It just installs... if you are using a double row and have the spacers, I'd recommend spraying the spacers with copper spray before installing to ensure no leak.
