Default 99 LS 1 build questions

Building an LS 1 for a 99 z28. Final destination will be for a d1sc although that will be down the road awhile. My real question is what does and doesnt need to be forged? Can a cast crank with upgraded rods and pistons safely handle the boost? If the crank needs forged i think i would go with a stroker kit. Looking for general advice for rotating assy.

What is your HP goal? A stock bottom end can handle over 600 HP. You MIGHT not need forged innards.

Here is where you call someone like WS6store for good advice on a strong rotating assembly for the power level you wish to attain.

Our favorite thing is when people come on and ask questions and then complain about how fast they get an answer. People post usually during the day. You posted at the end of a work day, and are complaining by 10 AM the next morning..

Depending on the power you want to make, how you're gonna use it, how long you want it to last, who tunes it and if you take care of it you could boost the stock bottom end, preferably with opened up piston rings to keep the rings from butting and popping a piston

Going to forged rods and pistons you can go up to 4 digit hp. No need to do the crank, pretty much ever at all as long as you're still on a OE block, or 4 bolt block (which is what the OE ones are)
