On A budget and just going back together stock? If the bores look good and the motor spins freely I'd run it as is.

Im going to run an aftermarket cam. I am eaning towards a Texas speed 228r. I'm also going to install an ls6 intake and long tubes. I've also been thinking about have the stock 71cc 317 heads milled down to 67cc or so to get a bump in CR but still be 91octane friendly.

New intake and exhaust valves for the heads together with a TSP spring kit for the cam. A set of 243's could be had for cheap these days and can be found on the newer Gen 4 LS 4.8 and 5.3's

Yeah the best prices for 243s around me are 500$ for used unknown condition heads. I ordered new valves and seals for 100$ my seats are good so I'm just gonna hand lap them with dye to make sure I have a good seal. Throw on recommended springs set spring height and call it good after they are milled.

Dont run a single pattern cam. Use their bald eagle. Much better.
