Pulling the oil pan off with trans out Hi, I read a post a from an older thread indicating that the oil pan (98' Camaro) can be removed without dropping the K member if the trans is removed. Is there any truth to this? Seems unlikely considering the pickup tube is in the way. My trans is out at the moment and I'd like to replace the leaking oil pan gasket. Thanks!

For what it’s worth, I dont think it is possible to remove the oil pan when the trans is out without dropping the K member. I fiddled with for an hour or so tonight. Perhaps I can loosen the pickup tube and then slide it out... I’ll give it one more go this weekend.

Well, I'm just here to confirm that with the transmission off, the oil pan still contacts the pickup tube. Lifting the motor is not a good option for me so I will use an engine brace and drop the K-member.
