Got the driver side head off, here is what I found laying in there in the plastic... What is this? Where do I go from here?
BTW, I can see the lifter down in the hole and now the magnet grabs it just fine.

Do I need to somehow removed the plastic to get at the lifter and pull it out?

Dude to me that looks like the needle bearing retainer off the side of a rocker. Check your rockers and I bet you'll find one missing. That would be where those needle bearing came from. I'd bet that the rest are in the oil pan but I'd be sure to flush the oil passages out real good to make sure.

That is the retainer from a rocker bearing pack.
I would get a stong magnet and run it on the oil pan towards the drain hole and fish the rest out.
Personally i would pull the heads off and all the lifters, cups and inspect (Flush) the oil passages. Something like that would freak me out.
That is why I can't wait for my heads to change those darn rockers with Harland Sharps.
Best of luck

SLP makes a cool higher ratio set that are exactly the same as the stockers (same company) if you want to keep everything as is, but get some more lift. That is...if you think that the rocker failure was just a wear thing. I would imagine it was.

SLP has em on special now, but I am sure one of the vendors here can kick their butt on the price.
