LT-4 Hot Cam Package

LT-4 Hot Cam Package I plan to buy a LT-4 Hot Cam Package for graduation and I am going to get a good deal on it, so I figured it would be worth while. The only problem is I'm not sure if I would have to buy a hypertech programmer to help adjust to the new setup. Do I honestly need one with the LT-4 Hot Cam Package? Will my car run like **** without it?

Re: LT-4 Hot Cam Package what year car do you have? The '94 - '97 LT1s should have no problems. I'm not sure with the '93 Models due to their SPeed Density computers. I have a few friends with the hotcam packages. No tuning and run fine.
Re: LT-4 Hot Cam Package If you are an M6 car, you'll probably just want the rev limiter raised, everything else should be OK. Of course custom tuning helps.
If you're an A4 car, you'll need the idle raised, and really, you'll want a stall (something like a 2800 Vigilante would be the biggest I'd go). Rear gears (3.42-3.73) would be good as well. Tuning definitely required for an A4.
I have a hotcam in my 94Z A4. It's an OK cam, but my car is heavy, so I'm thinking about pulling it out and putting something more torquey in. Bang for the buck wise, it's hard to beat. But, there are bigger and badder cams out there... The Comp XE series is good.
