Default SNS Stage 2 + AI 243s: Good Match?

I have an SNS Stage 2 cam in my ls1. Its specs are 227*/235* at 0.050", 0.618"/0.605 lift, and 110*+3* LSA. Would AI 226cc 243/LS6 heads work well with this cam? Anyone have similar set-ups? I emailed AI but haven't heard back.

Good luck getting a response from AI. I would be shocked if you hear back from them.

I would compare your cam specs to the cams AI sells for use with their heads on their website. That would give you an idea what their answer would be.

I would just go for some PRC as cast 225 heads if you don't already have 243/799s in your possession. It will cost almost as much if not more to find LS2/LS6 heads, ship them out, get them worked over, add a spring package, and get them shipped back then just buying brand new that perform just as good.

I was looking at AI 243s as well and ended up going with PRC as cast 225s.

But to answer your question, yes, AI 243s will work very well with that cam.

Do you have the cam already? Also consider the BTR stage 2 and Cam Motion Titan 4. They have a slightly wider LSA which should carry the peak slightly higher.

I've had problems with TSP products. I think there's a reason for their relative affordability.

I havent been impressed with their customer service but also have never spent any money on any of their stuff so have no first hand experience(tsp). I talked to Phil at AI for over several months on an email chain and while he always got back to me, it took about 2 weeks in between replies. I dont know I am patient enough personally to send something over to him to have to wait for a response that long. Have you tried Total Engine Airflow?

This

I wouldn't pay to get stock castings ported when you consider the price of these new.

The cam was installed a little over a year ago. The car runs well but I want more. What a surprise.

My tuner, who knows his stuff, recommended AI, so I'm rather set on them.

Good deal and if you have the patience to wait on his replies more power to you. His customer service when I got through to him was much better than TSP imo.

I recently did a set of LS6 stage 2.5 heads from TSP, called them and got all the info I needed. They advised on where to spend money within the budget I wanted to work with. Was pretty happy didn't try to up sell, if anything recommended me going with the cheaper option for what I was doing. Not saying they're the best out there but no regrets working with them.

I've waited for an email back from AI for about 2 years now still waiting. Total engine airflow always for back to me quickly via email but I usually call people when I need info anyways. Archaic I know.

Yes, I think the SNS Stage 2 will work well with the AI 243's.

While AI's reputation seems good and I've considered them before. I like what I read about AI. Only contacting by email is an epic fail in my book.

I'd call TEA or BTR or Frankenstein or Mamo

I'm happily pay a little more for a vendor that answers the telephone ☎ Two weeks for a returned email is very poor communication in my opinion.

I have the SNS Stage 2 and PRC 225s on a SBE LS1. That + fast 102, Warr 102, TSP headers, Hooker Black Heart duals produced the graph below on a rushed tune. I dont get hung up on numbers, but that torque curve speaks for itself. The times are different at the moment, but I didnt have any problems with TSP answering questions when I bought the heads. Tick also was very helpful. Heads look and perform great, in my opinion. Recommend Manton 11/32 pushrods as well, fits perfect with these heads. Be prepared to push your tuner to focus on the idle, or buy hp tuners and do it yourself, which is what I ended up doing. The overlap on this cam requires time and patience to get idle and return to idle to where its not a pain to drive. the graph tops out at 6k (rushes tune), but it pulls to 6600-6700 no problem.
